Here Are 4 Ways You Can Help Identify If Your Child is Becoming Obese – Start Looking Today

Their is much discussion as to what seems to be a disturbing reality. If we don’t curb obesity in children, this generation will become the first to not outlive their parents. Educating parents to live a healthier lifestyle seems to be a hard task at best. Here are 4 ways you can start helping your children from becoming obese. Prevention is important but not essential if you have started them off on the wrong path. Here they are:

* First of all, accept the responsibility for your children’s health. Many parents assume that all children that overeat, do so because of habit or that they are hungrier than their siblings. Ask your doctor to evaluate your child’s general health and see if their is something you both are not aware of. No children are exactly alike and their habits are very different from one to the next. Do not take anything for granted. I hated peanut butter and jam sandwiches as a kids while my 5 brothers loved them. There is always a reason.

* Second, look at them as they eat. Try and identify what makes them special. Do they eat for fun? Do they seem starved all the time? Do they eat in a hurry? Look for signs that you might have overlooked. Never make fun of eating habits even if they seem strange to you.

* Third item to look for; Are their any specific foods or drinks that stand out. Is their something that no one else in the family eats or drinks that this child loves. Some kids like Frosted Flakes for breakfast and other prefer toast. Have you ever wondered why? Read the labels, I mean really read the labels and find the ingredients that are different. You might be amazed that one child is bigger than another because of just one specific food item. Be vigilant, during the growth years they form habits that might be difficult to break later on.

* Fourth item that might seem odd; Is there one food product that they crave for, over and over again. My mother once told me that I adored pumpkin pie and would eat one off the pantry shelf has though I was drawn to it. Does that seem ” Weird” to you? Beware of little things. If your child loves hot dogs and eats three instead of two, don’t worry, that’s not what I am talking about here. Food for thought.
