Martial Arts Role in Preventing Child Obesity

Family mixed martial arts activities can help prevent obesity in children. Find a after school program for ages 5-13. Workouts should be non competitive in nature.

Youth classes should be available in Judo, Jui-Jitsu, Karate, Taekwon-do, and Kickboxing, Using the Muay Thai boxing bag. These classes also focus on cardio endurance combining traditional and current exercise techniques. During these classes Instructors of the Arts work on motor skills, specific grappling, striking, throwing techniques used in their Art. Their is also an emphasis on Respect, Honor, Honesty, these elements are the basics to most programs. Having the kids in this program allows parents to enjoy more time at Home because daily exercise is finished and the child has released a lot of energy and this can aid in sleeping better and has a calming effect. Naturally this helps the Parents be less stressful having a calmer child around.

These programs along with basic nutrition information to help kids and parents make good decisions about snacks and food choices both at school and Home can be very effective in helping Children from becoming Obese. The ability of these Programs to also provide self defense teaching while getting daily exercise is a big plus for kids dealing with the bully element at School. Providing skills to cope help the kids to deter violence. As PE classes are taken away or time reduced programs like these will be beneficial for our communities. For Information on Martial Arts Programs in your area search the Internet.
